Let’s celebrate together the success of the 2023 edition of the Congress of the Cameroonian Society of Ophthalmology (SCO)! The year 2023 was marked by unforgettable moments, groundbreaking discoveries and an ongoing commitment to improving eye health. Relive the highlights of this event, where the ophthalmological community came together to share knowledge and innovations, helping to shape the future of vision in Cameroon and beyond.
Dear CHS members, guests, exhibitors,
Thank you for attending our 28th Annual Conference. Your participation and interest, which continues to grow over the years, is a source of satisfaction for the new office to which you entrusted the reins of our learned society a year ago. We have the exhilarating mission of taking the CHS even further. I take the witness into the hands of worthy men and women who have laid a solid foundation for the CHS. Professor Ebana Mvogo Come, Professor Bella Assumpta Lucienne, Dr Noa Noatina, Professor Moukouri, the SCO by my voice says thank you. Your dedication and commitment to the service of Cameroonian ophthalmology have made SCO one of the flagship societies of SAFO. Such a legacy may seem daunting to us who take over, but we have a duty to progress, and we know that with your support, we can dare more, set ourselves new challenges, be more ambitious.
Innovations are numerous at this congress. The first, which is particularly close to my heart, is to find together, during the congress, consensus on one of the themes of the congress; this year the chosen theme will be: CATARACT SURGERY . A round table is dedicated to this purpose. The conclusions that will result will be recorded in a document called: THE SCO PREREQUISITES BOOK ON CATARACT SURGERY. It will be distributed in its digital version to all participants, then in the printed version to all those who request it.
This year again, as in 2017, LE XV-XX INSTITUTE, the first hospital platform for specialized medical training in ophthalmology, which is celebrating its 6 years, makes us the honor of sharing with us its birthday cake by accepting a partnership with the SCO for itssymposium on surgical
Glaucoma. We express our gratitude to Professor Christophe Baudouin.
We had some difficulties in setting up the practical workshops at this congress. We think put it back next year with better preparation.
We also pay particular attention to young ophthalmologists; I salute their dynamism, which is reflected in the record number of presentations we will have at this congress. In the future, a special stand will be dedicated to guide them with tips and tricks in their search for a professional well-being. During this congress, we propose a round table on: ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN OPHTHALMOLOGY.
With the participation of financiers and insurers, to encourage the creation and opening of ophthalmology offices.
Finally, I invite the regular members of the SCO to attend our general meeting on February 25.
Many important topics will be discussed, and the contribution of all is greatly desired.
We warmly thank Dr Guy Jounda, the president of the organizing committee of this 28th congress
and his entire team, as well as the scientific commission, who have spared no effort for the success of this gathering.
Our gratitude also goes to all our partners, and especially to Dr Abeer and Orchidia Laboratories, official partner of the SCO for the year 2023.
